Did you know that you burn calories all the time whether you are running, riding a bike or even sleeping. That’s right! The rate that you burn calories while you are doing nothing at all is your metabolic burn rate.

Here is the bad news, as you get older your metabolic burn rate goes down.

That’s a bummer!

But wait there is good news! You can increase your metabolic burn rate by doing a few things on a regular basis. I know what you are thinking, it has to do with exercise and what you eat. You are right.

In the way of exercises, weight training is an excellent way to increase your metabolism and the reason is because muscle eats fat more than anything else. Now don’t think that you have to start lifting 6 days a week and become a body builder. Use light weights to start with and get comfortable with them before adding any weight. Of course always consult a doctor before starting any exercise program.

Aerobic exercises like walking will also be a great help and forget about using the elevator at work, try the steps. When you go to the store park as far as possible from the door, every little bit helps.

Smaller meals and more meals each day will also increase your metabolism.

So get started on raising that metabolic burn rate!
